The Philadelphia Flyers announced that goaltender Ray Emery will undergo surgery to repair a torn muscle in his lower abdomen and he is expected to miss six weeks. Dr. William Meyers, from Hahnemann University Hospital will perform the surgery.
Emery has made 21 appearances with the team in his flyers jersey this season. Johan Backlund has been called up from the AHL's Adirondack Phantoms.
